Biography
Nathan Stone, a British artist born in 1995 and presently based in Berlin, operates under the artistic alias Mr. Fat Plastic. His body of work intricately examines the convergence of traditional analog techniques with modern digital methodologies, offering a nuanced exploration of their impact on cultural paradigms and cognitive processes. Through this fusion, Stone offers a critical examination of our present anthropocentric cultural consciousness, shining a spotlight on issues like algorithmic bias, distortion, and their profound impact on the neurological architecture of the human brain.
The imagery within Stone's creations possesses a remarkable potency, seamlessly melding subject and object into a singular, evocative experience for the viewer. Informed by a comprehensive understanding of art history, Stone navigates themes of dominance and control, skilfully crafting a narrative that extends and refines our current discourse. His focus particularly lies in the intersection of the ethereal realm of dreams and the immersive sphere of virtual reality.
Drawing inspiration from the masterpieces of surrealist Max Ernst's enigmatic 'La Toilette de la Marée' and the mesmerizing 'The Garden of Earthly Delights' by Dutch Renaissance luminary Hieronymus Bosch, Stone deftly weaves a new narrative into the fabric of contemporary culture. All the while, he maintains a profound respect for the historical context that underpins his artistic endeavors. In doing so, Nathan Stone's work stands as a testament to the enduring relevance and evolution of artistic expression in our ever-changing world.
